Maybelline The Falsies Mascara vs Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara

Hello My Lovelies!

I believe that even though applying mascara can seem unnecessary or daunting sometimes, when it is applied it really makes the lashes stand out and make the eyes appear more awake.

Maybelline is one of my most favourite brand, and there is no surprise there that 2 of my most used, most repurchased and most loved mascaras come from it.

I am talking about Maybelline’s The Falsies Mascara & Maybelline’s Colossal Express Mascara!

Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara (Rs. 350)

Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express mascara was one of the first mascara that I ever bought! I bought the Colossal Mascara primarily because of its packaging was (is) very cute! Initially for years I was using this mascara in the waterproof formula, but then I decided to switch to the washable formula and it was the best decision I ever made in terms of mascara, and I haven’t looked back since!

Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara coats and separates each lash, no clumping unless you apply 6-7 coats! It gives my lashes a really flutter-y feel and they really look voluminous!

It lasts a good 8-9 hours on my lashes and whenever I have it on my lashes look really curled and pretty!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara (Rs. 475)

I’d heard a lot about Maybelline’s The Falsies Mascara on Youtube and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it as soon as it launched in India!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara gives an instant swipe of black on your lashes on the first coat. It really does make my lashes look more dramatic and dark.

Only downside, almost always whenever I end up going for 2 coats of the mascara or ~god forbid~ more than 2 coats of the mascara my lashes clump together. But other than that it is really a good mascara!

COMPARISON ~ Maybelline The Falsies Mascara & Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara

Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara ~ The mascara comes in an almost neon yellow packaging that is unmissable, in a pool of makeup product, I instantly get attracted to this and reach for it.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara ~ The mascara comes in purple tube that is really cute and quite catchy, though not as catchy as the Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara!

WINNER~ Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara

Mascara Wand

Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara ~ The mascara has a normal wand with tightly packed bristles which do a good job of applying the formula to the lashes.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara ~ The mascara has a curved wand which is really amazing as it really helps get the formula to the roots of the lashes and evenly distributes the product.

WINNER ~ Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara ~ There is no issue of clumping with this mascara unless you intend to do 6-7 coats of mascara!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara ~ Clumping is one of the main drawbacks of this mascara for me because the first coat goes on smoothly on the lashes, but as soon as I go in for a 2nd coat my lashes clump together !

WINNER ~ Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara (no clumping!)

Although I have really loved both these Maybelline mascaras, if I HAD to choose, I’d choose the Maybelline Colossal Express Mascara!

Well that’s it for now :)

FOTD ~ With L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse “Bella”

Hello My Lovelies!

One of the lesser known facts about me is that I really like Twilight ~ the time of day and the book by Stephenie Meyer!

I’ve read the complete Twilight series starting from Twilight to Breaking Dawn, watched 5 movie installments of the movie and read my fair share of Twilight fanfictions, and I am not ashamed!

So, when I came to know L’Oreal Paris has a Shine Caresse range in which they have a lip color called “Bella” (for the uninformed ‘Bella Swan’ was the protagonist of the Twilight series), I was all, “gotta have that!”

L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse in Bella is a very hydrating peach-y rose lip color. It applies quite thin and can easily be built up. ‘Bella’ is a perfect My Lips But Better (MLBB) shade. It really brightens up my complexion and overall I really love how it looks on my lips.

The other truly awesome quality about ‘Bella’ is that it is not really sticky, I can have my hair flying about and not have to worry about it getting stuck to my lip gloss leaving streaky lines on my lips.

The only cons that I can think about ‘Bella’ is that it might not show on pigmented lips and that the gloss has a slightly strong fruity/floral scent as soon as I open the cap of the product an it lingers for a few minutes when I have it on my lips, then slowly lingers away.

I highly recommend trying the shade ‘Bella’ from the L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse range!

For this FOTD, I used :-

On my face…

1. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

2. Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush ~ Creamy Cinnamon

3. Chambor Silver Shadow Compact

On my eyes…

1. Sleek i-Divine palette in ‘Oh So Special’ ( I used ‘Pamper’ bottom row first shade from the left, ‘Organza‘ top row second shade from the left, and ‘The Mail’ bottom row third shade from the left on my eyes)

2. The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX Design My Eyebrows~ Eyebrow Pencil (love!)

3. La Splash Eyeshadow Sealer/Base

4. Maybelline Falsies Mascara (Washable)

On my lips…

I only used the L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse in Bella on my lips!

L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse lip colors retail for Rs.499

Well that’s it for now :)

All 3 Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blushes! Review + Swatch!

Hello My Lovelies!

Something awful, awful happened today… I lost my earphones! Yeah, I know! The foreseeable earphone-less tomorrow seems dim, dark and mute!

Anyway, enough with my melodrama!

The thing that I did want to talk to you guys about is my love affair with the Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blushes!

Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blushes retail for about Rs. 250 each, which is pretty affordable cost for these awesome blushes!

I own all 3 of the Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blushes not because I am a hoarder but because I was genuinely intrigued by them and decided to give them each a whirl!

1. Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush ~ Peachie Sweetie

This was the blush that started it all! I was in Shoppers Stop just browsing through the Maybelline counter when I came across this blush, swatched it on my arm and instantly decided to buy it!

This is my most used, most loved Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush! It looks so beautiful on! This blush gives my cheeks a really nice peach-y glow!

This is a really great everyday blush and whenever I apply this blush, I get a guaranteed, ” Yaar, achi lag rhi hai ” (You look nice) remark!

My Rating ~ 4/5 !

2. Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush ~ Fresh Coral

Fresh Coral was my next Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush purchase. I really like this blush (though not as much as ‘Peachie Sweetie’) this blush gives me a real rose-y cheek look.

But be warned this blush is really pigmented and a little goes a long way! Too much of this and you’d be sporting “clown cheeks” no pun intended!

My Rating ~ 3.5/5 !

3. Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush ~ Creamy Cinnamon

Creamy Cinnamon is my second most used and most loved blush after ‘Peachie Sweetie’.

Don’t let the brown color in the pan fool you, Creamy Cinnamon is a very warm, kinda burnt pink (is that a thing?) color which really warms my complexion and gives it a nice glow!

My Rating ~ 4/5!

Real Techniques Brushes Haul!

Hello My Lovelies!

Its another haul this time around! And a Real Techniques Brush one to boot :D

I was never a “uses-a-lot-of-brushes-to-do-her-makeup-person” in fact I shied away from brushes and makeup tutorials that used a host of different makeup brushes.

I was always a “uses-only-a-blush brush” kinda girl. But, the more I got into the whole ‘makeup world’, the more I felt the need to step outside my comfort zone.

While I was doing this whole stepping outside my comfort zone there was one brand that was creating a lot of frenzy and caught my eye repeatedly… Any guesses what the brand is? ” Well D’uh Swati you’ve got the freaking brand name in the title of your post! Could you “BE” more daft! ” (says in best Chandler imitation!)

Real Techniques

I always had heard really good things about the brand but when I found that this brand is by popular youtubers Nic & Samantha Chapman a.k.a Pixiwoo I all but sprinted to my computer and placed my order for the brushes.

You can buy the Real Techniques brushes at . They offer free shipping on orders above $25 and I didn’t have any custom hassles when I placed my order through them and my products reached within 10-14 days!

Here are the brushes that I ordered:-

Real Techniques Core Collection Kit

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Real Techniques Blush Brush

I’ll be posting detail reviews of each set of brushes soon, but most of them are pretty dang amah-zing!

Well that’s it for now :)

FOTD ~ Berry Kiss ~ Maybelline Lip Polish GLAM 6!

IMG_2219 Hello My Lovelies! Its FOTD time! You all know how much I fell in love with Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Polish ~ GLAM 13 (read about it HERE) that gloss opened me up to trying/experimenting a bit with glosses! So, I knew I had the Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 6 lying around (I had got it with Maybelline Lip Polish GLAM 13) so I thought why not try and experiment a bit with it! Here are the results of my “experiment” ! IMG_2221 IMG_2220 Here’s what I used for this look… IMG_2229 On my Face

1. Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover Foundation

2. Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush ~ Fresh Coral

On my Eyes

1. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal ~ White (on my waterline)

2. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal ~ Brown (underneath my waterline, I smudged it with a smudge brush)

3. I applied the bottom 2 shades from the Sleek Bad Girl Eyeshadow Palette (the bottom 2 shades from the right) on my eyes. I used ‘Twilight’ (the second last shade) a deep purple-y shade all over my eyelid, not going above my crease line. Then I used ‘Rebel’ (the last shade in the bottom line) on 2/3rd of my lid and blended it out like crazy!

4. Next I applied the shade ‘Gullible’ (which is the second shade from the left on the top row) from the Sleek Bad Girl Eyeshadow Palette underneath my brow bone as a highlight color.

5. After that I took my Lakme Shine Line Eyeliner and lined my upper lash line with it.

6. Finally, I completed my eye makeup by applying 2-3 coats of the Maybelline Falsies Mascara. IMG_2112 IMG_2111  On my Lips

Finally I completed the look by applying the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish in GLAM 6 on my lips! I love, love, love this gloss! I was not one for berry color lip glosses – who am I kidding? I was not one for lip glosses! Period! – but I really loved this color on my lips! It wears comfortably for over 4 hours, and I had a full on meal during that time, this gloss did not budge! Really impressed! IMG_2206 Finally, here is Jeeva again ! Photobombing me like it’s nobody’s business! IMG_2207 Here’s what he thinks about getting pictures clicked…. #YAWN !

Repurchase Worthy! Skin & Hair Products!

Hello My Lovelies!

Do you have certain products that you find yourself repurchasing time and again? Well, so do I !

Here’s a list of my favorite skin and hair products that I find myself repurchasing a lot (all of the products mentioned have been repurchased at least 4+ times by me!).

1. Vaseline Healthy White Lotion & Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Glow

IMG_2311Vaseline Healthy White Lotion : Oh My God! I loooooove this lotion! This lotion feels so light and right on my skin! It absorbs really quickly on my skin and believe it or not my skin does look lighter the moment I apply it.

P.S. – I am not promoting any ” fair skin ” theory here. I believe all of us have inane beauty in us we just need to tap on it and let it show ’cause it’s there. Fair, white, black, wheatish, brown, black, yellow doesn’t matter. You are beautiful if you believe. And when you believe it shows in your attitude.

Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Glow : The story with this product is that my mom got it for herself, I wasn’t keen on it then. One day my arms were feeling really dry, saw the “Cocoa Glow” lying around, applied it, loved it! This is great for the winters when your skin is craving moisture! I don’t use it that much during the summers, but in the winters this one’s my BUDDY! (imagine me saying “Buddy” in an exaggerated Indian accent!)

Price ~ Vaseline Healthy White Lotion – Rs. 275 ($4.6 approx.), Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Glow – Rs. 175 ($3 approx.)

2. Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Tresemme Smooth and Shine Conditioner

I don’t know why but for some reason this shampoo and conditioner ALWAYS works for my hair!

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo : This shampoo really does a good job of cleaning my hair. I do the usual ‘rinse and repeat’, but the great thing about this is that when I ‘repeat’ i.e shampoo my hair again after rinsing it, I don’t feel it stripping nutrients out of my hair or making it really dry.

Tresemme Smooth and Shine Conditioner : I usually follow up after shampoo with this conditioner, sometimes I skip conditioner altogether because I am in a hurry but when I do apply it, oh god! My hair feels sooooo super smooth and soft and shiny!

Here’s what I doWhen I shampoo my hair I concentrate on washing my scalp, but when I condition I concentrate more on the ends of my hair, or hair below the nape of my neck.

Price ~ Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo – Rs. 170 ($2.8 approx.), Tresemme Smooth and Shine Conditioner – Rs.135 ($2.28 approx.)

3. Ponds Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam

This has been my go-to, trusty, best friend face wash for a long time! I mean I can have makeup on my face which just wouldn’t quite come off with a makeup remover but this face wash gets it out in a jiffy!

I mean, every time I wash my face this, my face feels cleaner, like absolutely-no-germs-no-gunk-clean-as-hell-clean face!

I can go on and on about this but if I HAD to chose something from this list that I absolutely cannot do without, then this would have to be it!

Price ~ Rs.160 ($2.7 approx.)

4. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+

(Excuse the dirty packaging, this has been tossed around in my bags quite a lot!)

This is my go-to sunscreen I usually apply this 15-20 minutes before I have to head out all over my arms, legs, feet whichever part of my body which could get tanned.

This sunscreen has SPF 50+ so I usually don’t even feel the need to reapply during the day, although I do keep the tube in my bag just in case I do need to reapply, which almost NEVER happens.

I don’t apply this on my face when I am wearing makeup, just because it feels quite heavy with makeup and I start to feel that my skin can’t breath!

But other than that this is really awesome!

Price ~ Rs.499 ($8.4 approx.)

Well that’s it for now!
